Snuff bottles are small containers that were used to hold powdered tobacco, which was inhaled through nose. Snuff was introduced to china by European missionaries in the mid 17th century.
Chinese stuff bottles were designed with narrow necks and tight fitting stoppers to keep the snuff powder dry and preserve its aroma. which was an improvement over the snuff boxes used in Europe. the bottles were crafted from a variety of materials and often featured intricate designs. including inside painting glass.
