The Original Sculpture
The original piece was crafted in 2013 by the luxury Japanese jeweler Ginza Tanaka to celebrate Messi's record-breaking fourth consecutive Ballon d'Or.
- Material: 25 kilograms of solid 24-karat gold.
- Value: Appraised at approximately $5.25 million USD.
- Purpose: Portions of its auction proceeds went to support victims of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
