• The Gate: Constructed in 1092 ADby the Fatimid vizier Badr al-Jamali, Bab Zuweila served as the southern portal to the fortified city. It is famously known in local folklore as Bawabat al-Mitwali.
  
• The Twin Minarets: The prominent towers rising high in the center of the image are the twin minarets of the adjacent Mosque of Sultan al-Muayyad, which were built on top of the gate's existing military towers between 1415 and 1422 AD during the Mamluk era.
• The Streetscape: The piece captures a historic, bustling Cairo street market (bazaar) flanked by traditional buildings with intricately carved wooden mashrabiya windows.
