This object is an antique Chinese porcelain water pot / container historically used as part of an opium pipe setup.
Key Characteristics
- Form & Function: Crafted in a double-gourd or rounded bulbous shape, it features protective metal reinforcement bands around the middle and neck, a small brass-fitted aperture on the upper bulb, and a top opening meant to support attachments.
- Design & Decoration: The vessel is made of crackle-glazed ceramic or porcelain, hand-painted with traditional Chinese red enamel lotus blossoms, swirling foliage, and yellow accent dots. These types of historical pots are highly collected today as unique Asian decorative artifacts.
