This item is a handcrafted Damascene mosaic wooden box, or marquetry trinket box.
Traditionally handmade in Syria using centuries-old Levantine techniques, these decorative keepsake boxes are constructed by combining intricate slivers of native woods (such as walnut, olive, lemon, and rosewood) alongside embedded mother-of-pearl (nacre) shells to build out geometric arabesque patterns.
Typical Uses
- Jewelry & Watch Ranging: Storing delicate ornaments, necklaces, rings, and watches, often featuring velvet padding inside.
